Muffins will make you happy like this woman
Here’s to a Happier, Healthier 2009!
Well, I guess this is it, resolutions are in and we’ve all resolved to be happier, eat healthier, be Thinner, make more time for ourselves and our families, work less, play more, save more, and get rich. Even I, the owner of a muffin company, have challenged myself to a new healthier lifestyle (yes the rumors are true, I am trying my hand at becoming vegan as are some of the muffins)
So where do all these resolutions leave Taste No Evil Muffin Company for the months to come? After all, isn’t it true that muffins are bad for you? That they have more fat than even a whopper and that they are just dessert disguised as breakfast? Well those things are actually NOT true, well not in the case of Taste No Evil muffins anyway, but it is true that’s the common perception of muffins and with that in mind this little blog was formed!
Taste No Evil Muffins are good for you! The are made with all natural ingredients including whole wheat flour, organic fruits, nuts and flax meal. They have less sugar than your typical muffin and the sugar they do have is the good kind (organic evaporated cane juice). We have low fat options, vegan options, and if you call ahead we can even do a gluten free option. All that, and we haven’t even gotten to the what they don’t have in them yet.
Taste No Evil Muffins have a distinct lack of anything “EVIL” in them. What’s evil you ask? We consider evil all things that are just plain inarguably bad for you…like red dye number 3, preservatives, pesticides, artificial growth hormone, eggs from unhappy chickens that weren’t allowed to roam free on the range, bleached flour stripped of all its nutrients, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup (or even regular corn syrup), and well, vibes from unhappy overworked underpaid employees. All of our muffins are baked fresh daily, with love, right here in town, in small hand mixed batches while I hum a happy tune. (Ask my co-founder if you think its not true, he will totally vouch for me). That being said you know when you eat one of my muffins you’re doing nothing if you’re not doing something thats good for you. After all, what could be bad about whole grain, low fat, delicious and made with love right? RIGHT. So put that nasty EVIL little rumor that muffins are bad for you right out of your head and lets move on to your latte!
Everyone knows that your latte is making you fat and more than likely, while you think its helping you get through your morning its probably actually just adding to your stress level (not to mention the level of toxic pesticides you are consuming). Studies done by Duke University have shown that your morning joe is probably sticking with you all day and increasing your stress hormones making your already stressful life even MORE stressful. Your doctor told you to give up the coffee and your accountant did too! The Starbuck’s habit must be kicked to reach your new years resolution goals…but what on earth could possibly replace your daily latte? I’ve got the answer. Replace your latte with some mate! Yerba mate that is.
Yerba Mate is a tea most popular in South America (Primarily Argentina, Paraguay , Uraguay and Brazil) and in those countries it is often touted as a gift from the gods! It is brewed from the leaves of the Yerba plant (a member of the holly family) and in South American countries it’s served from a hollowed out gourd called a Mate and drank through a filtered straw called a bombilla. Some of Yerba Mates “claim to fame” beneficial characteristics are thought to include:
Increased Mental Clarity and Alertness
Appetite Suppression to help aid in weight loss
Detoxification of the liver and kidneys
Higher Anti Oxidants content than green tea or red wine
Anti Cancer Affects
Energizing Affects contributing to feelings of well being
Minerals that contribute to improved metabolism
Incresed Immunity and
Anti inflammatory affects….

There are tons more….google it.
Alrighty, enough about mate, feel free to come by for a free sample…and while you’re here, do your health a favor and pick up a fresh fruit cup, a muffin, some yogurt or some organic milk. If you’re feeling a splurge come on…break that resolution with a Muffin Top Ice Cream Sandwich! (a giant dark chocolate muffin top sliced in half and stuffed with Amy’s Ice cream in either dark chocolate, coffee or sweet cream flavors)
Whatever you’re up to this new year…make sure you’re making Taste No Evil part of it! Here’s hoping you and yours have a very happy, very healthy 2009! See you soon!
Much Love and Happy Munching!!
